Re-mining
As the world’s primary sources of metals become increasingly scarce and more expensive to extract, the call to use and manage the world’s natural resources in sustainable ways grows stronger. In line with our core business of producing metals for the steel industry, we are investing in emerging and innovative technologies in the effort to recover metals from industrial waste streams, mining and production. A secondary mining process we would like to refer to as re-mining. By connecting and combining technologies, we are developing innovative ways to recover metals, for example from pickling residues, scrap, slag and other waste streams. Creating new mineral sources, recycling metals to the highest degree possible and maximizing efficiency, both economically and environmentally, is what Fondel Development is all about.

Compared to primary production, recycling materials results in significant savings in energy and resources. In anticipation of the explosive growth in material and energy consumption in the coming decades, the creation of profitable material recycling processes has become crucial. By creating innovative synergy and inventing new ways to recover and re-use more and more of the materials that have traditionally been disposed of as waste, we’re helping the industry become more efficient and sustainable. At the same time, we are creating new opportunities for a sustainable society.
